Oasis Solutions Group has learned that for unknown reasons that Sage 100 ERP (formerly MAS 90/200) reseller and master developer, Hightower, Inc., has temporarily closed their doors - and that efforts to reach them for support, implementation, programming and other issues have not been successful.
During this time Oasis Solutions Group is available to assist with support on Point of Sale Professional. Our lead developer, a former employee of Hightower, Inc., was directly involved with the initial POS product development currently provides implementation assistance, training, and troubleshooting for our POS clients and he is available to help you as well.

It is getting increasingly difficult to separate social media management from customer relationship management (CRM)–hence the increasing number of social CRM services. But just having a social CRM offering is not enough. Just like any technology, you have to first pick a customer engagement and management solution that is right for your organization and create a strategy and guidelines around using it.
Make sure you have a good platform for conducting your social CRM strategy.
On Windows 7, make sure UAC (User Account Control) is set at minimum level then reboot the workstation.
Login to the workstation as the Network Administrator
For windows 7 and XP workstations, do the following:
Go to Mas90\wksetup folder
Run wksetup.exe (as administrator)
Run wksupdate 90.exe (as administrator)
After step 3 is completed, go to Printers and add a Local Port called “SAGE” to the printer called “Sage PDF Converter”. It will be added as the default Port. (This printer/port is required on Win 7 workstations in order for Paperless Office “pdf printing” to run correctly.)
If Sage PDF Converter printer does not exist yet, go to mas90\home and run PDFInstall.exe
The possible “gotcha” with Win 7 is that sometimes the Sage PDF Converter printer is hidden by another existing PDF printer and you have to “uncover” it to add the SAGE local port. The PDF printing won’t work in MAS 90 if the Port is set to NUL or LPT1 so set it to Local Port SAGE as described in Step 4.

The basic concept of cloud computing is simple: computer applications that run over the internet. This means you do not have to buy, install or manage your own servers. All you need to run your IT operations are an internet browser and connection. Applications, operating systems, servers and networks switches all resides within the metaphorical cloud and are managed by your cloud computing vendor.
Sage Software has announced the retirement of Sage 100 (F/K/A MAS 90/200) version 4.30 as of September 30, 2013. They also noted that there would be no year-end updates after January 2013. Payroll updates will be made available until September 30, 2013.
If should also be noted that Sage 100 Version 4.40 will be retired September 30, 2014. If you are currently running MAS90/200 version 4.30, especially if you use payroll, it is important that you contact us. The Employee Portion of the FICA Tax (Social Security) has increased from 4.2% to 6.2%. The Employer Rate remains unchanged at 6.2%.
The IRS has issued temporary 2013 income tax withholding tables. Notice 1036 can be found here. These temporary tables were released before the "Fiscal Cliff" bill was passed by Congress. IRS Notice 1036 states that you do not have to adopt the new withholding tables until 2/15/2013.

Now is time to start preparing for payroll year end. Based upon prior history, we anticipate the release of the Q1 2013 Tax Table Update (TTU’s) around the 3rd week in December and Year-End Interim Release Download (IRD’s) within that same timeframe.
At the writing of this article, we are unsure if there will be an IRD for W-2’s, however now is the time to plan and schedule year end assistance. For those of you new to the Sage 100 payroll world, keep in mind that you cannot install the TTU’s until after you have printed your W-2’s. (Even if you created a historical company, you still cannot load the TTU’s until you have completed the printing of W-2’s.)
So, if you would like assistance with creating historical companies and copying data, installing IRD’s, printing W-2’s and installing the Q1 2013, TTU’s please do the following:
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with “YEAR END ASSISTANCE” in the subject line. Include the following information:
- Company Name
- Contact Name/Contact Phone/Contact Email
- Last Payroll of 2012 / First Payroll of 2013
- When you anticipate printing W-2’s?
- If you are required to do electronic filing (Federal, State, or Both) for State, please list the individual states
- Do you use Aatrix?
- Do you process Fringe Benefits?
- Do you process 3rd Party Sick Pay?
- Current version of Sage100 (MAS90/MAS200)?
- How many companies do you have that process payroll?

2011 marked the 30th year that Sage has been providing market-leading business management software and services to small and midsized businesses. Throughout their history, their commitment to end-users has been at the center of what they do. It is that commitment that has helped make Sage a recognized global leader in supplying business management solutions.
In 2012 Sage will be changing the names of many of their core accounting and ERP lines. These products will be identified with a numbering approach where higher numbers denote increasing levels of product capability or sophistication. The product renumbering sets will include Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 300, and Sage 500.
Sage Software is currently releasing version 4.5 for MAS90 and MAS200. The new version will include the features and functionality of 14 additional Extended Solutions titles, including the much anticipated – Customers with National Accounts, Auto Generate of PO’s from Sales Order entry, Split Commissions between multiple sales people by customer, and MUCH MORE. As always, we strongly discourage clients from upgrading on their own. Please note the following:
1. If you have custom programming or 3rd party add-ons installing the product yourself will most likely result in the loss of these enhancements and possibly even the loss of existing functionality.
2. As with any new release, we do not recommend immediate installation. Oasis has outlined a process to review, test, monitor, and phase in this new release. At this date, and with year-end quickly approaching, we anticipate that we would begin installing the update in February, 2012.
3. With this new release come exciting new features to add more flexibility, streamline workflows, save time and minimize errors in your system. Don’t forget to register for one of our End User Group meetings to see all that 4.5 has to offer!
So, in anticipation of everyone wanting to take advantage of the new features and functionality, you can email us at email@example.com to be notified when we are ready to begin installation of this update. Please note that on 6/30/11 the FUTA 0.2% surtax is scheduled to expire.
Sage has updated their PR tax table to reflect this change in the FUTA rate. The Tax Table updates are available for Levels 3.73, 3.74, versions 4.00, 4.05, 4.10, 4.20, 4.30, 4.40, 4.30 and 4.40 as well as Extended Enterprise Suite Versions 1.3 &1.4. This will be the last tax update for versions 4.0, 4.05, and 4.10.
End-users have the following options:
1. Contact the Oasis technical support department at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a time to install the latest tax update. OR
2. Go into the tax table maintenance for Federal and manually change the FUTA rate.
Either way, we recommend you complete your last payroll run of June 2011 and update it before
installing this tax table update or making the manual change.
Please note that if on 6/30/11 the 0.2% rate is extended and does not expire, in Tax Table Maintenance you can change the rate by entering FED at the State field and change the rate in the Unemployment Rate field back to 0.8%.

IMPORTANT Year-End Processing Information Year End is fast approaching and once again Oasis will try to make your year end processing as stress free as possible. Here are a few VERY important tips regarding 2010.
Many companies, especially smaller organizations, are seeing value in moving their company’s communications to “Google Apps”. Google applications can manage emails, calendars and shared documents at a lower cost than traditional Exchange and network servers. The Google applications are also capable of integrating “almost” flawlessly with the Microsoft Outlook Client.
